Center of Excellence in Networks and Security (CoENS)
Background: Established in 1995, VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (VNR VJIET) has been thriving in providing quality higher education in various disciplines of engineering and technology. Having established itself as a premier institution by imparting quality education, VNR VJIET is gearing towards sowing seeds for future academic growth by bringing in research and innovation in certain areas of utmost importance. Two of such recognized areas are computer networks and information security. With an ambitious aim of excelling in networks and security research, VNR VJIET has established a Center of Excellence in Networks and Security (CoENS).
Objectives and Main Activities: The main objective of CoENS is to setup a dedicated group of researchers working in various topics related to networks and security. This also includes initiating dialogues with other institutions and groups world-wide to seek collaborations in relevant areas. Another important aspect of CoENS is to motivate students towards fascinating world of research by involving them in research projects and provide them an opportunity to collaborate other researchers around the world.
A by-product of this center’s activities is consultancy to industrial and government organizations in the thrust areas of networking and security. It is envisaged that group’s involvement in advanced research will benefit the members to provide practical solutions to problems, proposed by the other organizations.
CoENS is involved in research and consultancy in two broad areas:
Main focus areas are:
- Wireless Sensor Networks
- Cognitive Radio Networks
- Mobile Networking
- Protocol Designing
Main focus areas are:
- Static & Dynamic Security Program Analysis
- Intelligent fuzzing using evolutionary algorithms
- Vulnerability analysis
- Malware Analysis
- Intrusion detection/prevention systems
- Machine learning and data mining in security
- Miscellaneous topics in Network Security
